- Montreal, October 2007 - Plajia is a Montreal based, ambient rock band, with diverse influences such as: folk, 60’s and 70’s music, space rock, Motown, contemporary pop music, progressive and classic rock. Since its inception in 2001, Plajia has been a serious and ambitious rock band striving to be one step ahead of the pack. The trio has played concerts throughout the Province of Quebec ever since, including three electrifying performances at Montreal’s Club Soda, in Quebec City, Ottawa and Toronto. Last July, Plajia had been chosen to participate in the well-known North By Northeast Festival. Following their victory of the Virée Chaosphonique 2004 contest, many specialized musical internet blogs, especially in France and in the United States, featured the group. In 2006, after winning the MP3 Bluetracks.ca contest, they obtained rave reviews in many magazines and independent webzines across the globe. All these achievements were based on the strength of the catchy, hooky, playful, unpredictable and certainly anti-boring music produced by Plajia.
With Beautiful Explosion, Plajia radiates a very special energy, a certain kind of magic justified by its brit-pop influences and key words in their lyrics, sent like floating musical notes into your hearts and brains, which convey romanticism, melancholy and optimism, but also with hard-rocking, vibrant and catchy rhythms.
The title-track, Beautiful Explosion is the album’s first single. It’s also the last of the eleven recorded songs of the album; it was inspired by the fact that if explosions are often reported in the news, they can also be joyous, festive and playful! Musically, the album is influenced by the British-pop compositions of the 60’s and 70’s icon groups, often with a psychedelic and progressive twist. - credits
